Spring Moodboard - Wednesday Challenge at Simon Says Stamp

WOW! I left to go to a convention and came back to craziness! Glad to finally have a moment to do some crafting and post some cards! I hope everyone is doing ok!

Today I am participating in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.

Theme this week is...

I had some spring inspiration from lawn fawn this week! I love their scripty sentiments that cover the length of the page.

Sorry, but there is a LOT of shimmer that photos just don't do justice. Gold paper frames the card, gold embossing for the sentiment and then nuvo shimmer powder was used for the splatters.

I used solar flare on its own first, then added more water and mixed in some cherry bomb for a more orangy color to flick as well. This seemed to match the mixed oxide orangy color that was on the paper.

Tons of messy fun!!

Techniques or tips and tricks

  • Take distress oxide inks and smoosh the ink pad directly on your media mat. Spritz with water - move around with a paint brush to your taste for a base color if desired, mine made a peachy color. Apply to watercolor paper to taste. Dry with heat gun in between layers to get overlapping lines/blends.

  • Brighten it up! Dry with a heat gun between layers for bright results. After a base layer, wipe off and smoosh again on media mat but don't mix the colors as much or at all. Play with placing your paper down all the way or just parts of it to get the look you want. Also try drying again between layers to get best results without color mixing.

  • Wipe off your media mat and spray some water into a little pool. Tap on the solar flare Nuvo shimmer powder and mix with a brush. Flick onto the paper by tapping the brush on your finger while over the paper. Add more water if needed and then add the cherry bomb to mix to match your background. Flick as well.

  • Ensure water color paper is dry before embossing sentiment. Use a misti so you can stamp the versamark multiple times to ensure good coverage or to emboss twice if you want a smooth smooth look.

  • Don't forget to use the embossing buddy to make sure the embossing powder doesnt stick where you dont want it!
